Community Ownership Pilot — Proposal

A Community Ownership Pathway Designed for NAACP Chapters

MDRRI has developed a regenerative land ownership education model and submitted a proposal to bring these resources directly to NAACP members and unit leaders.

What This Is

  • A structured, 7-step ownership roadmap with clear guardrails and action checklists
  • Educational resources designed for NAACP chapters and units
  • A proposed model that centers community wealth-building and land access

Why This Model

Black and Indigenous communities have faced systemic barriers to land ownership for generations. MDRRI was built to change that — offering a replicable, community-centered campus model that trains new farmers, builds local food systems, and creates real ownership pathways. This proposal brings that model directly to NAACP chapter members who are ready to act.

What We're Requesting From NAACP Leadership

To move this proposal forward, we're asking for three things:

1

A 15-minute call to route to the right leader

We're looking for a brief conversation to identify the appropriate department or contact within NAACP leadership to evaluate this proposal.

2

Permission to run a 90-day pilot with select chapters

A focused pilot program with 1–2 chapters to test the ownership pathway model, gather feedback, and measure outcomes before any broader rollout.

3

Identify 1–2 internal sponsors

We're looking for internal champions within Education, ACT-SO, or Development committees who can help evaluate and support the pilot from within the organization.

What Chapter Members Would Receive

  • 7-step ownership roadmap with clear guardrails and action checklists
  • Unit-ready education curriculum and workshop materials
  • Priority access to MDRRI pilot campus programs and events
  • Direct connection to MDRRI leadership and partner network
  • Early visibility into land acquisition opportunities and cooperative models
